Reception and Year 1 – Welsh Stream

Croeso, i Ddosbarth Irfon. Our class is named after the local Irfon River.

This year, our class is a Reception and Year 1 class.

Mrs Shân Price and Miss Emily Thomas are our teaching assistants.

Our topic this term is ‘Dŵr i Fyw’. (Water of Life) and we are learning about the different bodies of water in our local area e.g. Afon Gwy, Afon Irfon and Nant yr Arian. We will learn the story of the Ginger Bread Man and through Pupil Voice the children will come up with their own Amser Enfys ideas. They will also change it to create an original version of their own. We will investigate floating and sinking, and learn about the water cycle. We will also learn Mathematical phrases, first, second, third, learn about temperature and measuring water. We will learn about weight by baking some delicious Ginger bread People!

P.E. is on a Friday and the children are asked to come to school in their P.E. kit. Joggers, jumper, t-shirt, short, trainers, depending on the weather.

We spend a lot of time in the outdoor but Dydd Iau ar y cae (Outdoor afternoon) is on a Thursday. They will need weather proof trousers and jacket. Wellies, and for the colder months scarf and gloves.
