Dosbarth Elan

Blwyddyn 3 a 4 Ffrwd Gymraeg

Welcome to Dosbarth Elan!

This term’s topic is Amazing Animals!

Our topic for this term is a science-based topic. The key concept of learning is interdependence and during the topic, we will be learning that the world around us is full of living things, that humans form part of the living world and our decisions and actions can have a significant impact on the diversity of life. Through learning about interdependence, learners will experience the wonder of the natural world and how it can contribute to their spiritual development and wellbeing and can help to cultivate a sense of place and belonging. It will develop an awareness of the interconnections between humans and their environment and an understanding of our interdependence. In Dosbarth Elan, we are starting the topic by recalling what we already know about living things and about animal life in different environments. Linking what we learned about the local area last term, we will go on exploring farming – how farmers look after their animals and what these animals provide for human. We will be using the children’s ideas to explore our topic further during the term.

In language lessons, our focus will be on developing discussion and persuasion skills. We will be presenting arguments for and against when discussing and encouraging others to agree and sharing opinions with evidence when writing persuasive texts.

In maths lessons, we will be learning the skills of presenting information in graphs and using this information to interpret data. We will also be working with money, fractions, symmetry, area and perimeter.

The digital skills that we will be focusing on this term are using digital equipment to present information using oracy skills. We will be building on the skills we learnt last term when using iMovie and Stop Motion! We will also be using digital apps to present data using excel and j2data.
