Dosbarth Nant yr Arian

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 –  English Stream

Croeso! Welcome to Dosbarth Nant yr Arian’s class page.

Our topic for this term is “Healthy Me”. During the term, we will be looking at how to keep our bodies fit and healthy through healthy eating and engaging in sports activities including dance.

We learn in a play-based and experiential way with the children working in small, focused groups (with the teacher or TA leading learning) or working independently on challenges and tasks as part of Amser Enfys (independent child-led learning).

We encourage children to bring in a water bottle everyday which can be kept in the classroom and to bring fruit to snack on during our snack time. Please can you ensure that there is water only in the water bottles. In addition to the obvious health benefits of water (improved concentration being one), occasionally the bottles do leak and when they have squash in them, a sticky mess is left on the floor to clear up!

At the start of school, we would like you to bring your child to the gate but to leave them to come on through by themselves and into the classroom, where I will wait for them. Mr Cornelius and Mrs Jones will be on gate duty daily to ensure that all children have come onto the yard safely. Coats and bags will be kept on pegs near the classroom. Lunch boxes and snacks are to be kept on our trolley. We will continue to complete many activities outside throughout the day waterproofs and wellies are available in school, but if you would prefer your child to wear their own, please send them in a clearly labelled bag – (coat and leggings, rather than an all-in-one suit as they can be tricky for the children to put on independently).

At the end of the school day, your child will be dismissed from our outside classroom door, through our outdoor area and onto the yard, where you will be able to collect them. Please can you inform us of any changes to the routine at the end of the day, for example if your child is going home via email or phone call to the school office.

Can you ensure that all coats, jumpers/cardigans and shoes are labelled with your child’s full name. All resources that your child will need e.g., pens, pencils, felts are available in school and therefore pencil cases are not necessary. Please can you encourage your child to leave toys, lip balm/stick, make-up and jewellery at home as unfortunately items do tend to go missing in our busy learning environment and can get broken when lots of little hands are touching them.
